H Upmann Cabinet Seleccion

H Upmann Cabinet Seleccion H. Upmann Cabinet Seleccion 6x54 / Dominican Republic / Medium

H Upmann Cabinet Seleccion is a rare cigar and from what I’m told only a select few retailers carry it and that it’s almost impossible to find on the web. I got lucky that my local cigar shop (Tobacco Grove, Maple Grove MN) carries a good selection of this cigar. Ok, now to the cigar review this cigar like all H Upmann’s is good. The burn was smooth the taste was smooth and the structure was smooth. I guess what I’m saying is that this cigar was smooth all around. It was more on the mild side with a creamy taste and no real hint of any spices.

Oliva Series V

Oliva Series V Oliva Series V 6x56 / Nicaragua / Full

The Oliva cigar was recommended by many people and I’m not a big fan of sungrown wrappers but I had to try it. Overall it was a good cigar, but it was a little stronger than what I like. This cigar was a very rich and smooth stick with a great burn and got stronger as it burned.

Montecristo Vintage 1999

Montecristo Vintage 1999 Montecristo Vintage 1990 6x50 / Dominican Republic / Medium

Montecristo Vintage 1999 was a good cigar. The burn, the draw, and the flavor everything was good. But, it wasn’t great like most Montecristo. The first Montecristo I smoked was a No. 2 and now that was great. I guess I was looking for more from them on this cigar. Don’t get me wrong this cigar is better than most cigars out there, I was just hoping for more!

AVO Maduro

N0. 10 on the all-time top 10
AVO Maduro AVO Maduro 6x60 / Dominican Republic / Mild to Medium

This cigar review is for the AVO Maduro and all I can say is WOW! Now I have heard many good things about Henkie Kellner and this cigar certified everything I have heard. Everything from the first appearance to the smooth finish was excellent. The AVO had a creamy taste that picked up at the end and with a perfect draw and burn. I can’t find much better than the AVO Maduro.

Cohiba Robustos

Cohiba Robustos Cohiba Robustos 4.8x50 / Cuba / Medium to Full

The Cohiba Robustos is one of my favorite Cuban cigars, but I will admit I don’t think it is any better than the Dominican Republic Cohiba. This is a very well balanced cigar between the spicy flavor and strength. Trust me I am not saying that this is an average cigar it’s a great cigar, but it just shows you how good all Cohiba blends are no matter where they are grown. This cigar company is one of the best for overall cigar making.

Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real

Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real 5.5x44 /Dominican Republic / Mild to Medium

This is a great cigar and I see my thoughts are shared with many. This cigar has received excellent reviews on most cigar sites and Cigar Aficionado gave it a 91. This cigar is extremely appealing and nicely rolled. The draw and burn were smooth and even. This stick will not over power you, but you also won’t get a great deal of different flavors. It is a very steady cigar, you will not be disappointed.

Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut

Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 6.5x50 /Honduras / Medium

The Rocky Patel Connecticut Vintage 1999 is a cigar I will always have in the humidor. This is just another great cigar by Rocky Patel. This cigar doesn’t offer the flavors that the maduro Vintage ’92 &’90, but then again this is a natural cigar. The look is a silky light shade wrapper and the cigar is creamy with a hint of spice. Most cigar websites have this cigar rated as a mild to medium. I think it falls in line right with the medium cigars. Please try and leave your feedback.

H. Upmann Signature

H Upmann Signature
H. Upmann Signature 6.0x50 /Honduras / Mild to Medium

This might be the best or at least it’s one of my top rated cigars. They don’t make this cigar anymore so I had to hit every cigar store in Minneapolis to buy everyone I could. Now I have a good supply in the humidor so I won’t miss the creamy taste. I have smoked over 50 of these Signatures (Natural & Maduro) and I have never had one with an uneven burn or a really tight draw. What makes this cigar so good this that anyone at any smoking level can enjoy this cigar. If you can find one please pick it up.

Gurkha Vintage Shaggy

Gurkha Vintage Shaggy Gurkha Vintage Shaggy 6.6x53 /Nicaragua / Medium-Full

This cigar brand is known as the Rolls Royce of cigars and it might be because of the price (His Majesty's Reserve $14,000 per box). Along with the price comes a great cigar and the unfinished style of this cigar makes a beautiful stick. This is an 8 year old Dominican wrapper and a 5 year old Dominican filler and binder. The burn was excellent and the draw was easy and smooth. This cigar will not overwhelm you, but it does have a hint of spice. This is one of my favorites and would smoke one at anytime. Enjoy!

CAO Brazilia

CAO Brazilia C.A.O Brazilia 6.0x50 / Honduras / Medium-Full

The CAO Brazilia was as good as the hype. This oily Maduro stick is a full body cigar with good flavoring and a great taste. The burn and draw were good and it never burned uneven. I was at a BBQ and drinking beer with the cigar. I will admit I was thinking more about the cigar than the money I was losing playing bean bags.
